The Space - when we first walked into this space in an ancient, somewhat barn-like warehouse in Brooklyn, we knew we had found what we were looking for. It is a fantastic sounding, configurable, versatile, and unique recording environment that allows us to keep our overhead in line with our primary goal: offering clients big budget space (total square footage = +1,000'), gear, and recording quality as an affordable upgrade from "bedroom" or home recording.
We acoustically designed and built out an isolated control room which is both an accurate listening environment and large enough to double up as isolated recording space, and installed another medium size isolation booth. Both of these isolated spaces were designed using golden section math and are detailed, natural sounding spaces in their own right.
Wanting to leave one of the best sounding large spaces we've heard-2 brick walls, wood floor and massively beamed wooden ceiling (which happens to function as natural bass trapping)-as undisturbed as possible, we opted to leave a large live area mostly untreated in order to retain a space where even a medium size chamber ensemble could fit comfortably. One end of this space is usually damped using theater curtains and rugs to provide yet another, medium live-sounding recording environment; the curtains can be raised to open the whole area back up.
The studio is a place where DIY artists can take their recordings to the next level at around the same price-point as rehearsal time. Rates vary according to project needs-please contact Butler Recording to discuss rates or schedule a studio visit.
